SAKAE TOURIST ATTRACTIONS / 名古屋 栄

Sakae is the downtown area of Nagoya, and for most people going to Sakae means going shopping or getting a bite to eat. Otsu-dori, crossing North to South, is the best street for brand shopping in Nagoya. Besides shopping and eating, here are some other ideas of things to do.

GO UP THE NAGOYA TV TOWER

A ride up to the observation deck of one of Sakae's landmarks is a great way to learn about the city and get one's bearings. The observation platform is just at 100 meters, but there is a nice view and food and beverages are available.

SUNDAY AFTERNOON ROCK-A-BILLIES

Nearby the circle fountain in the middle of Sakae, frequently on Sundays when the weather is warm, a group of 50's rock and rollers devotees twitch and jerk away the afternoon dressed up in 50's style clothing with even their hair gelled back. It's just for fun, but can be a hoot to watch.
